Katie Ullman, the Media Coordinator Ride for Missing Children, says, “We're able to not be landlocked anymore. You used to, when you had a telethon, you had to have a phone bank and you had to sit in one place, and with this technology we're able to move. Our cell phones move with us because we have cell towers along the way, and our laptops and our iPads travel with us, and the secure on-line donation form, as long as we have internet, we're ready to go.” To learn more about the live mobile telethon and other ways to donate to The Ride for Missing Children, please click here. About Boilermaker 15K
The Boilermaker 15K Road Race was established in 1978 by Earle C. Reed. Reed was looking for a way to give back to the community that had supported his family's business, Utica Radiator (ECR International). Earle convinced his father Bob Reed, President of Utica Radiator, and the company's Treasurer Jim Benson, to underwrite a new local long distance road race, which Earle dubbed "The Boilermaker." The first Boilermaker was run on July 16, 1978.
